The Leonardo da Vinci project NAVIGUIDE intends to transfer and expand an existing Austrian "guidance methods" database, a product officially owned by the Austrian Public Employment Agency AMS (www.ams-forschungsnetzwerk.at), into the European guidance system. The database developed between 2008 and 2010 contains more than 400 methods for guidance in group settings. NAVIGUIDE will establish this guidance methods database as a common knowledge base for European career counsellors, as various studies have shown that the quality of career counselling across Europe is affected by heterogeneous training.

Within the scope of the project, the project partners from six partner countries (Austria, Croatia, France, Ireland, Poland, Turkey) selected 102 guidance methods for translation into the different national languages. Career counsellors were trained in these methods in at least six one-day workshops per country (in total 45 workshops were conducted) in different European regions. Aside from the platform and workshop evaluations, a questionnaire among practitioners identified their training needs and an ex-post evaluation showed how applicable the methods are in everyday practice of guidance in group settings.

Key products of the projects are a CD-ROM with 102 guidance methods, a methods guidance handbook as well as an online methods database in the different languages of the partner countries.

This project has been funded with support from the European Commission.
